Battletech
Hello, and welcome to the world of Battletech!
I have been playing Battletech on and off for the last 15 years.
I have a comprehensive library covering all
basic and advanced rules. I also have about 100
Battlemech miniatures, about half of which are painted to
a very high standard. I prefer large scale battles, a company being
the smallest I like to play with. I'm versed in Mechforce NA
rules of engagement with Combat Values. I field a Clan Congress class
Warship which carries a Fortress Class Dropship, and two Overlords.
My unit is a Freebirth offshoot which escaped Clan domination with
modest resources and established a thriving colony outside known space.
This colony had a high cross section of skills and within 100 years has a level
of Technology commesurate with the Clans. The intelligence agency has operatives
in the Clan home worlds which routinely pass intelligence back to the colony, though
high level military intelligence is difficult to gain as almost all operatives are labor caste'.
More success has been made in the Inner Sphere, which is less harshly restricted at times.
I modeled my unit composition on Robotech, and this colony left with large quantities of L.A.M.'s,
an incredible machine for a variety of uses, from exploration to reconisance, to rapid deployment and
pinpoint force projection. The first Battlemech factory was a L.A.M. production facility
which produces Clan Tech upgrades . L.A.M. pilots are all Elite Pilots and Special Forces
personel competent in all aspects of their craft, including maintenance. The L.A.M. is so highly
regarded that a smaller, commercial version is used as a common form of transportation.
No recreation facility would exist without the Star League era L.A.M. simulators
which are built for recreation.
Vehicles make up a large portion of the standing military, accounting for 50% of the overall
unit composition. All units are combined arms, and rely on artillery and heavy weapon
carriers. Planetary defences rely even more on conventional forces, these accounting for
75% of all defenders. Impressive stationary and static defences ensure a rough
time for any invasion force. Attack satellites patrol each planet forming a defensive net, supported
by Naval Ground batteries which could demolish a battleship in moments.
